RESOURCES

Abortion is extremely complex and nuanced.  There is no one size fits all.  We have put together a list of resources for you to do your own research and reading to educate yourself on this issue, as well as provide resources for when you are speaking with elected officials.

Jessica Valenti's Abortion, Every Day - RECOMMENDED
Jessica provides a space for feminist commentary and community—and also a daily abortion roundup, Abortion, Every Day.  She provides daily information about what’s happening with abortion—from legal updates on state bans and women’s stories about abortion bans’ impact, to analysis of conservatives’ strategy and prompts on how you can help.

American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) on abortion.

Use the medically correct terms per ACOG.  The language we use when discussing reproductive health has a profound impact on what people hear and learn. Much of the language that is colloquially used to describe abortion or discuss health policies that impact abortion has a basis in anti-choice rhetoric and is inherently biased and inaccurate—and at the very least, is not medically appropriate.   The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) uses clinically accurate language when discussing abortion. We encourage people writing about reproductive health to use language that is medically appropriate, clinically accurate, and without bias.

United Nations Human Rights & US Abortion.  For the first time in history, a group of NGOs (see below) are urging for the US (a western, secular, democratic country) to answer to human rights violations within their borders related to the Dobbs decision and women's rights.  Read a Guardian article on this, and the full letter(PDF).

These human rights organizations are calling on the United Nations to intervene over the lack of abortion rights in the US.  The
UN General Assembly can pass a resolution on this.  While it wouldn't wouldn't carry huge impacts, it can and likely would impact  the US's relationships (economic and diplomatic) with other countries in the world.
